About Us

We started the FindYourRace.co.za website with a simple idea to provide a service to participation events, their potential entrants and the event sponsors.

Our hope and aim has always been to make it easy for potential participants to decide which event they want to take part in. To do that, potential entrants need to know that an event is taking place, so the primary goal of FindYourRace.co.za is to list as many participation sporting events as we can.

The secondary objectives include providing more detailed information about those events and eventually providing the resources and assistance to event organisers to enable them to organise better events for more athletes.

The aim was to launch in April 2020 and we had about 2 000 events (or an average of about 40 events every week), and we aim to grow that — but Covid put an end to our plans and we are waiting for participation sport to restart properly once more.. To do that we need the help of event organisers and athletes: If you know of an event which is not on FindYourRace.co.za then please drop us a mail via the Contact Us form and we will add any legitimate event that falls within our parameters.

We have been asked what made us start the website.

The FindYourRace.co.za website started from a very simple problem: We could not find accurate information about races online. As part of some work we were doing, we needed to find accurate details about some mass participation sports events (where a lot of people take part in a sporting event for exercise, enjoyment and / or competition). Sports that fall into this category include road running, cycling, canoeing, triathlons and swimming.

Frustrated that some event organisers either did not respect their clients (the athletes) and supporters (sponsors) enough to create an online presence, or they simply did not have the knowledge to provide the information, we thought that maybe we could help. Hence the idea for what we arrogantly initially called the Google of Participation Sports.

The idea and the motivation for this website was simple. The implementation was a bit more complex and we have learned a lot and continue to learn. We have trolled through websites; phoned, e-mailed and cajoled event organisers (you would be amazed at how difficult it is to persuade some event organisers to let us tell people about their event); and manipulated lists of events into readable formats so you know how to Find Your Race.

We hope you find this service beneficial.
